Hybrid
Accessibility is important to us, and that shows up in a range of ways, from physical access of the event spaces to community access to ensure trans people from a range of backgrounds are able to attend. Part of our efforts to make this event accessible to more attendees is the hybrid conference format. This means we are requesting all presenters pre-record their presentation to be made available in the virtual platform.
The conference encourages all disciplines involved in trans healthcare to come together and to share knowledge, experience, and expertise to improve the lives of trans people and their communities. We are often siloed in our work, and the hybrid model allows us more opportunities to learn from each other, even if we are working in different areas. More cross pollination of ideas leads to innovation, collaboration, and community development.
The virtual platform will be exclusively accessible for the conference, with the exception of the workshop day which will not have a virtual component.
Benefits of attending virtually:
- Cost effective – in addition to lower registration cost, you do not need to pay for flights or accommodation to attend
- Virtual registration gives you access to the conference content for 6 months post the conference
- Virtual platform provides a forum for both in person and virtual delegates to connect with each other in a shared space
Virtual registration includes the following:
- Access to all conference content taking place on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 November. (Does not include pre-conference workshops)
- Access to live streamed plenaries
- Access to live streamed panel discussion sessions. All delegates, virtual and in person are able to participate in Q&A for these sessions
- Access to all abstract presentations which have been supplied by our speakers as a pre-record.
- Access to PDF poster presentations
Quiet space, supported by Thorne Harbour Health
The quiet space allows delegates to take some time away from the main conference to regroup and recharge without having to leave the hotel. We have selected a lovely room that overlooks the lush and green Fitzroy Gardens, tucked away from the main networking and catering areas, while still being close to the main conference spaces. A big thank you to local LGBTIQ+ organisation Thorne Harbour Health for sponsoring the quiet room, and providing comfy beanbags for anyone who needs some downtime.
Trans Peer Connection
Session overview: The Trans Peer Connection sessions are a space for anyone who has lived experience of being trans (binary and non-binary) to come together at the conference. Attending the conference as someone with trans lived experience can be both incredibly rewarding and challenging, and these sessions will give trans delegates an opportunity to debrief, support each other, and build community connection.
